Literal definition of TEA -
Tea - noun
1. a hot drink made by infusing the dried crushed leaves of the tea plant in boiling water.
2. the evergreen shrub or small tree which produces tea leaves, native to southern and eastern Asia and grown as a major cash crop.
'Ology' is the derived from Greek, meaning the 'study of' (no I didn't google that... I actually remembered if from my first year studying Biology)
So there.... Teaology is the Study of a hot drink ... essentially. (no it's not an actual profession but I'll be first in line to apply when the job opens)
That moment between the kettle going on, and you standing in of it willing it to boil faster; Your tea cup is sitting on the counter, tea bag in place, sugar pot next to it (because as we all know, you never put your sugar in until the tea bag is out of the cup... you learn something new everyday... yeah it's a pleasure). Your foot tapping impatiently. In the morning, that is the worst part (well besides actually getting out of bed of course).
Tea for me is a reward (in the morning when I've climbed out of bed), a refresher (when I've had a long day), it's a soother (when I've been mad or if I'm just irritated with the world; plotting several people's deaths... yeah the other day someone told me I looked like they felt, of course I took the bait and asked how they felt... TIRED... I'd thought I'd have a natural day and not wear mascara... obviously I can't pull that look off).
A cup of tea to keep me company while I'm working on a painting, feeling insecure about my skills and talents, Of course that sounds insane. Tea, a hot drink made by infusing the dried crushed leaves of the tea plant in boiling water, can't keep you company. But really, it can. You can sit, by yourself, sipping away at it's flavour, smelling it's scent, while you read a book, and it's keeping you company. Its there. (Until you finish it of course, but then there's always another bag waiting to be made) :)
There are different tasting tea's too. A Pomegranate Rooibos on a hot day, Vanilla Chai for those cold, rainy, wet days. Italian Almond, Rose Water, Peppermint, Normal (which is 5 Roses for those who didn't know), Plain Rooibos (definitely one of my all time favourites)... the list goes on.
Here's a quick recipe for quick ICED TEA ;
Need -
1 Tea bag (I use Rooibos, but I suppose you could use any type really...)
3-5 blocks of ice (ICE ICE BABY.....VANILLA ICE ICE BABY) (sorry, I saw an opportunity and I took it)
200mls of water (cold)
1 spoonful of sugar (resisting the urge to break out singing the soundtrack from Mary Poppins)
1 cup/glass/mug (whatever you use to drink out of... I'm not judging)
Teaspoon (this is Iced Tea after all)
So, put all your ingredients into the glass, and stir it (shaken not stirred... actually please don't pull a James Bond on us... if you do you'll end up with Iced Tea all over your kitchen... so rather don't shake it up... sorry Taylor).
I like to leaf the tea bag in the glass because the taste just gets better and better as you sip away.
(did you see what I did there?) (if you did comment below ;))
Yeah so... that's about it.... that's how you make an easy Iced Tea for one :D
(Also, on a hot day when you have to go exercise you can put a slice of lemon in your water, it really makes it extra refreshing after a hectic workout) (not that, that has anything to do with tea... but I'm just putting it out there in case...)
Tea comes in the cutest and coolest packaging ever. It's a feast to the eyes. Here are a few of my favourite teas :)
Isn't tea just so wonderful? :)
Thank you for reading this far and for hopefully not cringing too badly at my cheesy jokes.
