Teaology

Literal definition of TEA -

Tea - noun

1. a hot drink made by infusing the dried crushed leaves of the tea plant in boiling water.
2. the evergreen shrub or small tree which produces tea leaves, native to southern and eastern Asia and grown       as a major cash crop.

'Ology' is the derived from Greek, meaning the 'study of' (no I didn't google that... I actually remembered if from my first year studying Biology)

So there.... Teaology is the Study of a hot drink ... essentially. (no it's not an actual profession but I'll be first in line to apply when the job opens)

That moment between the kettle going on, and you standing in of it willing it to boil faster; Your tea cup is sitting on the counter, tea bag in place, sugar pot next to it (because as we all know, you never put your sugar in until the tea bag is out of the cup... you learn something new everyday... yeah it's a pleasure). Your foot tapping impatiently. In the morning, that is the worst part (well besides actually getting out of bed of course).

Tea for me is a reward (in the morning when I've climbed out of bed), a refresher (when I've had a long day), it's a soother (when I've been mad or if I'm just irritated with the world; plotting several people's deaths... yeah the other day someone told me I looked like they felt, of course I took the bait and asked how they felt... TIRED... I'd thought I'd have a natural day and not wear mascara... obviously I can't pull that look off).

A cup of tea to keep me company while I'm working on a painting, feeling insecure about my skills and talents, Of course that sounds insane. Tea, a hot drink made by infusing the dried crushed leaves of the tea plant in boiling water, can't keep you company. But really, it can. You can sit, by yourself, sipping away at it's flavour, smelling it's scent, while you read a book, and it's keeping you company. Its there. (Until you finish it of course, but then there's always another bag waiting to be made) :)

There are different tasting tea's too. A Pomegranate Rooibos on a hot day, Vanilla Chai for those cold, rainy, wet days. Italian Almond, Rose Water, Peppermint, Normal (which is 5 Roses for those who didn't know), Plain Rooibos (definitely one of my all time favourites)... the list goes on.

Here's a quick recipe for quick ICED TEA ;

Need -
1 Tea bag (I use Rooibos, but I suppose you could use any type really...)
3-5 blocks of ice (ICE ICE BABY.....VANILLA ICE ICE BABY) (sorry, I saw an opportunity and I took it)
200mls of water (cold)
1 spoonful of sugar (resisting the urge to break out singing the soundtrack from Mary Poppins)
1 cup/glass/mug (whatever you use to drink out of... I'm not judging)
Teaspoon (this is Iced Tea after all)

So, put all your ingredients into the glass, and stir it (shaken not stirred... actually please don't pull a James Bond on us... if you do you'll end up with Iced Tea all over your kitchen... so rather don't shake it up... sorry Taylor).
I like to leaf the tea bag in the glass because the taste just gets better and better as you sip away.
(did you see what I did there?) (if you did comment below ;))

Yeah so... that's about it.... that's how you make an easy Iced Tea for one :D

(Also, on a hot day when you have to go exercise you can put a slice of lemon in your water, it really makes it extra refreshing after a hectic workout) (not that, that has anything to do with tea... but I'm just putting it out there in case...)

Tea comes in the cutest and coolest packaging ever. It's a feast to the eyes. Here are a few of my favourite teas :)

Isn't tea just so wonderful? :)

Thank you for reading this far and for hopefully not cringing too badly at my cheesy jokes.

Be Happy :)

So here's the thing... being happy is a very vital key in your life (DEEP MOMENT)

Hello ...

I have a new video up on YOUTUBE !!! Finally (this took forever to edit and I actually was so close to not even uploading it.... thanks to my brother though... I decided to)

(here it is :) watch it and then continue reading)  :D

So did you watch it? Did you like it? (go like it if you did? cause that would make me happy)
How about that song hey?

I've got a quick tip for you :) if you're feeling low/downinthedumps/lonely/sad ..... and you don't know what to do to feel better, I have this little quick pick me up tip for you.

I have this thing that I do where I bottle things up. I stress about school, friendships, my talents, what I'm not talented at, things I struggle with, conversations I've had that didn't go well, moments when I've been awkward, when I got really excited and people looked weirdly at me, times that I've blushed, and other things like that... and I don't tell anyone about it. I'll have an issue with something someone has done, or said to me and I'll not say anything about it. I won't talk about it, I'll just try to forget and move on. But the thing is that I can only do this for so long before the 'bottle' is full and can't handle anymore of these thoughts and emotions. Obviously, I'm sure you can just imagine what happens. My self-esteem plummets, I get really quite and almost shy, I'll blush a lot (and because I'm so conscious of me blushing and so self conscious about it, then I'll blush and get so frustrated with myself), I'll start to speak down on myself, compare myself to anyone I think is better than me, and I'll start second guessing everything I do. It's HORRIBLE and I usually end up crying in my room.

Why am I telling you all this?

Well if you ever feel anything like that, I know how you feel. You're not alone and when you have moment's like that know that there are millions of people out there who feel similar. It's not just you singular, its WE as in plural.

Although its terrible to bottle up your worries/doubts/emotions, it's something I'm working on not doing. I've found that if I write about it then it doesn't fix it, but it does help me feel less trapped by these feelings. I've put it out there if I write it, the paper won't judge you. Sometimes, I don't even write my own words, often it will be a quote by some random person I've seen on Pinterest that has stuck with me.

Another awesome way to stop feeling like that would be this (and it only takes 5 mins!!!!)

Listen to a song! I'm serious! Jump around to the beat, sing the lyrics (in your head or aloud), shake out all the tension and nerves.  (Just don't listen to a sad song, because there's no way that'll cheer you up)
I'm going to give you a list of songs that I would recommend listening to and wouldn't :)

Do ~
The Best Song Ever by 1D (this song is my all time favourite pick me up)
Problem by Ariana Grande (listen I know it's over played but it cheers me up)
Counting Stars by One Republic
End up Here and Heartbreak girl by 5sos
Gives You Hell by All American Rejects
A little Party never Killed nobody by Fergi ft Q-tip & Goonrock
Move by Little Mix
Down South by Jeremy Loops
Turn down for what by Lil Jon ft DJ Snake
Wasted by Tiesto ft Matthew Koma

Don't ~
Amnesia by 5sos
Breathe by Anna Nalick
All of the Stars by Ed Sheeran (don't do that to yourself ... it's just too depressing)
Actually now that I think about it, don't play any Ed Sheeran song
Hey there Delilah by Plain White-T's
Iris by the GooGoo dolls
Wonderwall by Oasis

That's my advice (the other advice I would love to give you is to just tell someone, talk it out if you have a problem with someone, and smile... always smile cause there's always something to be happy about even if it doesn't seem like it, and it might even be something small like .... oh look at that lovely flower, it's so pretty (don't then go comparing yourself to the flower, you're not a flower you're a beautiful human being)

As a good bye if you're feeling sad, please watch this video it's just over a minute and will absolutely MAKE YOUR DAY! (and if you're already happy watch it to because it will absolutely MAKE YOUR DAY!!!!) it's just too cute :)

| Two Years Apart | Update

Hello

So.... I've had this post saved in drafts for almost two weeks now :/

Kyra and I filmed two videos, both of which are up for you to watch (I highly recommend you watching them because they're really funny, and you can get to know us better)

The first video is the Humming Challenge :)

Click HERE to go directly to the video

The second one was awesome to film :) And it was very impromtu, Kyra was a my house and we were going to film a cover video and then she turns to me and says I have a tag video we can film. I set up the camera and she literally told me what it was as we filmed it :) I had never heard of the TMI tag before so she had to explain to me what it was. To be honest I actually hadn't heard of the Humming Challenge either... I really am out of the loop

so Click HERE to watch that (personally this is my favourite one so far)

If you like them please share it with your friends!

It would really mean a lot :)

Painting Palettes

Hello Everybody :)

So today I'll be showing you an awesome idea for your bedroom. (actually you could use this anywhere really...)
Right so you'll need two (well five) things for this project

1. Wooden Mixing Palette (for paints) any size you wish
2. Parrot Products Glass & Chalkboard marker (alternatively you could just use regular chalk)
*3. Blackboard paint (found at most hardware stores)
*4. Large paintbrush
*5. Soft sandpaper (also found at most hardware stores)

(*I painted my palette years ago and recently dug it out of my cupboard the other day so unfortunately there aren't any photos of me showing you how to paint it*)

So what you're gonna want to do is lightly sandpaper your palette down if there is a varnish of any sort painted on it. Then, make sure there are no left over sandpapered bits on the palette, you can start painting it black. I would recommend diluting the paint with some water and painting a very light coat to start with and layer up when it's dry. I don't know if this is how you're supposed to paint wood but I did it like that and it worked really well for me :)

Oh and please remember that if your palette isn't dry properly before you draw or write on it, whatever you draw on it the outlines will stay there FOREVER ooooh ;) no seriously though, it leave like a imprint in the paint and you can't get rid of it. Of course unless you paint over it, but thats too much effort, so just blowdry it with a hair dryer to make sure everything is dry :)

Once your palette is dry find a quote or saying you like, I went for
~ The earth with out art is just 'eh' ~
Click Here to go to my pinterest board 'Write, Scribble, Express' which is full of cute sayings you could use :)

Yes I know I'm outside... it's just it's just a beautiful day!!!!!

Remember when you're writing, you can use so many different fonts, and add some funky shapes to your letters to make them look cuter :) Oh and you can experiment on paper before hand, or on the palette, remember it is chalk, you can always rub it out if you don't like it :)

When you've finished writing/ drawing then embellish. Add some flowers, hearts, triangles, dots... anything really. Fill up the empty spaces. I outlined my palette with green, yellow, white and purple spots. It looks really cute :)

I hope you do make one for your room or kitchen or bathroom... how cool would it look if you did like a fork and spoon and knife for your kitchen and then decorated the handles with fun squiggles and stripes ??? Ahh that would look really awesome...  I might actually try that! MOM CAN I PLEASE DECORATE OUR KITCHEN WALLS WITH CHALKBOARD UTENSILS???

Anyway, next blog post will be on a Monday (any Monday after I've had a more chilled non chaotic weekend) and I'm contemplating doing a post on decorative elephants.... or something todo with lights... you'll have to wait and see which one I choose ;)
till then

Self _ Control

Hello again ...
So it's been what? four days?

I was so excited to post my last Speed Art Video on Monday that I just couldn't wait to upload another. I finished editing my new one last night and told myself to just hold out till next Monday to upload it... but clearly I have no self control because I just can't wait! It's there, sitting on my flashstick ( or flashdrive? I can never remember what the correct word for that memory device thingy is ... or maybe both are right ...) so it's just sitting there ... being all ... well you know how flashsticks/drives are ;)
Anyway it's not a bad thing to upload a video... :) so I don't know why I'm making excuses for it.

Oh yeah! I made an Instagram account for my blog :) go follow

Quick Catchup ... and many song references

Hey
How you doin?

I almost had a heart attack (and I was like OW you're giving me a heart attack) when I realised it had almost been a month since I'd posted.... anything ... and my friend Kyra is constantly putting up her cute nail art videos on YouTube (go check them out, link below), and it was driving me mad that I hadn't had time to even think of doing something. So when Friday arrived I promised myself that I WOULD have a creative weekend. And a creative weekend it has been indeed.

As I type my newest speed art painting is being uploaded onto YouTube, and my camera's battery is charging, and when I'm finished here, I'll be off to film my next speed art video :) to give you a hint of the topic I'll post another link below! Knowing my inconsistency with uploads and updates, I really can't tell you when it will be up, but I hope (and I hope you hope) it will be up soon! WHOOP WHOOP! Very exciting.

Quick... confession / excuse time ... type thing
Busy would describe my life for the past few weeks... oh and technical difficulties too.
Something you may not know about me is that I am a slight perfectionist. When I say slight, I mean my room might not always be neat and tidy but íf I'm painting then nothing can be out of place or skew, you catch my drift (anybody else like that out there??? no .... so I'm just gonna be all by my self.... ok). So me being a slight perfectionist has been stalling the upload of Kyra and I's video... I'm not happy with the angles and some of the sound is fuzzy... so I'm thinking we might have to record it again... yeah.

Then with the cycle track video... I haven't been able to see the other girl I filmed it with to edit... and my mom has 'misplaced' the memory card with all the footage on it. I'm not mad ... no way... why would I be mad? It just had a days worth of footage on it.... there were no epic shots of guys being airborne for like 10 seconds type thing on there.... (please note the sarcasm...) I will find it, it can't just disappear so ... it has to be somewhere in my house. But till then... obviously nothing can be done.

I think that's all I wanted to say...
Oh, if you're on Wattpad at all go follow my friend MorganSchlichting (she's actually on Pinterest too ... so go check out there too) (she's awesome, Hi Morgan if you read this)

Random fact ...
It's 55 weeks till I turn 18, then I can get my drivers license (I'll just wait... until I'm 18)
and so if you know your math... or how many weeks there are in a year you'll work out that in three weeks it's my 17th birthday. cool

Lets Get Organized *insert overly excited voice*

Hello all you wonderful internet surfers,

A very important key to being organized is to be clean. Now I'm not saying that you need to go take a shower (unless you smell, please do) no, I mean the items and bits + bobs around you need to be clean and orderly. Keep things to a bear minimum. This rule can apply to any area of your house; kitchen, bedroom, bathroom or laundry. I'm going to use my work/study area as an example ...

So as you can see, in my work area, I have no shelves or cupboards ( the cupboard on the right has my moms tea cups and dishes, basically just paraphernalia). My desk is also in a public are, so by the power invested to my mother by being a mom, it has to be kept clean!

My first rule/ tip/ hint for organizing would be
~ Keep Like Things Together ~
Trust me, you'll do yourself a huge favour by doing this. For example, I keep all my English papers / books  together. They're not held separately from my other books or files, but they're not jumbled up between biology and math. I also keep any study work or tests together in a folder with labelled dividers, that way if I ever need to review my notes from say my SAT papers, then I just open the file and flip through till I reach the SAT section...

Second rule would definitely be to have
~ Limited, or none at all if possible, bits + bobs lying around ~
Bits + Bobs are things like ponytails for your hair, your guitar tuner, your breakfast bowl (from yesterday morning). You don't need more than one rubber (eraser) lying around (oh and if it is lying around, get it into your pencil case ASAP , it's just cluttering up your desk missy!) Now, I'm by no means saying that you can't have anything interesting or slightly unorganized on your desk, remember EVERYTHING IN MODERATION. I have on my computer screen two wooden animals I bought when I was in Namibia stuck down with presick. My dad calls them 'dust collectors', I call them special reminders of the wonderful time I had, and the memories I made ...

Stuck to the bottom of my screen is three notes. Two are lovely Typo Polaroid cards from my mom and best friend. They're encouragements, and motivation for me when I feeling low. So I keep them there, and when I'm not feeling quite right, I turn them over and read the loving words, reminding me that I have my friends and families support and love. The other may be even more important than the motivational cards because it helps me with my computer. You may remember from my first post, but I have a Love / Hate relationship with technology. I love it, but it hates me. So I made this note to remind me what to do when I have a problem with the computer. Oh and my siblings seem to have a keen knack for figuring our my passwords, apparently dance and guitar are obvious passwords for me... so I have to come up with clever and cryptic passwords... unfortunately some of my passwords are so clever and cryptic that even I can't remember them. So I have a sort of password hint written there too ;)

Tip number three
~ Only Keep Things You're Busy With Out ~
Often when it comes to school, I feel overwhelmed. I see all the work and panic, stress and become unmotivated. Lets face it, this has happened to the best of us, Right? Right (will that be our Always? Sorry 'Fault in Our Stars' moment). When this happens, and if I'm being honest this happens to me often, I have to take a step back and remind myself to take things ONE STEP AT A TIME. Don't over think these things.

So I keep the books I need this week out, and all those other books? I tuck them in a FAR AWAY cupboard where they stay far from my sight. But I also love to see how far I've come, so I typed up a list of all the books I have to read and categorized them by subject and printed it. As I finish a book I'll highlight it so by the end of the year, I have a lovely, bright and cheery, page.

My forth and final tip is
~ Keep it Clean ~
I can confidently say that this is something we're all guilty of. Cleaning your room/ kitchen/ bathroom/ desk, organizing the cupboards, straightening out the shelf, wiping down the table, and moving the tea cup from yesterday, can take a lot of effort if you're not in the habit of keeping it clean. So I challenge you to break that habit of messiness and become a person who cares for their things. Don't label yourself as someone who has 'always been messy' because you were as a child. Get organized. It's simple and easy, and once it's done, it can be a shelp to keep it like that (it takes me less than a minute to mess up my room searching for an outfit, so I'm not saying I'm not privy to this post...) but it's worth it (no not searching for the right outfit, keeping your belongings clean and tidy!!!!)

Anyway. I hope this was helpful for those who want to be more organized, or motivated those of you who don't give a damn what state your room or house looks like.
Have a wonderful day (its a lovely sunny day here)

Two Years Apart

Hello,
So some exciting news is that my friend Kyra and I have started a band/girl group YouTube channel called 'Two Years Apart' where we will be uploading videos of us singing song covers. I'll post a link when the site is ready.
Today we spent about three hours recording our first cover, and made plenty bloopers, (I'm busy going through all the footage and that is definitely proof enough for me).
Just want to say a quick thank you to Kirstie for putting up with our laughter and having such patience with us ;) I take my hat off to you. THANK YOU, YOU AWESOME PERSON !
The video should be up soon so keep checking up here for the link to our channel! YIP YIP YIPPEE

An Interesting Turn of Events

Hello ....

Yesterday's events were... well interesting to say the least.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I was going to a film shoot where we would be recording footage of cyclists performing stunts, tricks or just riding their bikes, which we are going to edit together to make a short advert for the track. You may be wondering (or not) how this track came into being... It was created at the end of last year when the local high school's cycle team hosted an event on the plot of land, essentially it was just an open plot, owned by the city, and it could have the potential for a park but due to vagrants and dog walkers, it was never turned into one. So, when this cycling event took place there, a route was laid out for the cyclists to follow, and by the end there was an actual three and a half kilometre track. My dad, who is quite a doer, like Sherlock, and had foresight, contacted the city council to ask for permission to make the track permanent. Many meetings, papers signed, angry dog walkers, police visits to clean up the litter, teen boys building crazy jumps, ramps and burms later, we've ended up here, with a brilliantly positioned cycle track, where families spend a good chunk of their Saturdays and Sundays riding. How awesome. A place, once before, just a dirty vacant park, now a place for the neighbourhood to exercise.
Hopefully in the next couple of days I'll have edited all the amazing and epic footage we took in to a video, actually I take it back, it might take a couple of weeks... I still have to find the perfect song... any suggestions please leave a comment :) anyway, so keep a look out on my YouTube channel for that video.
Besides filming all day in the sun (not complaining we had perfect weather, what more could I ask for) I found out that in October and November this year, I will be writing my G.E.Ds and S.A.Ts ... WHAT!?!?!?! Yeah... so I'll be finished with school a year early. Pretty exciting and nerve wrecking stuff right there. Speaking of, the other thing that is a part of growing up that happened to me yesterday was that my mom bought me the K53 Learners and Drivers manual. Yeah guess whose getting ready to learn to drive. ME!
So what else exciting adventures (I'm being sarcastic there) does my week hold? Well today has just been me editing, playing guitar (I've finally perfected Fallin For You by Colbie Caillat), and finding the perfect cake pop recipe for my besti and I to make tomorrow :) I'll post some pics when we've made them for you to see. For my birthday last year I was given a cake pop book and, holder thingy. That doesn't really explain what it is that I was given. Basically it's a mould that fits twelve pops that you put the batter in and bake in the oven then pop them out (excuse my lame pun) and decorate :) if that still isn't explanatory enough for you and my descriptive skills aren't doing justice to the mould, check out MoreZoella on YouTube and watch her vlog ~ Cake Pop Fail and Date Night. It's really cool :) even though they (spoiler alert) fail ;)
Then later in the week I'll have an exciting announcement with my friend and fellow musician Kyra... which I can't tell you know what it is, but I'm telling you it's going to be exciting!!!
Quick confession, today I learnt how to do a proper fishtail braid. I'm sure for many teen girls, this is a basic hairstyle and wouldn't be a huge accomplishment, but for me... I'm so excited that  I got it right :D oh and during writing this post, I listened to Wrapped Around Your Finger and If You Don't Know by 5 Seconds of Summer... If you don't know who they are then I suggest you climb out from under that rock you've been living under and find out, and if you do know who they are and haven't heard those songs then please go listen to them because they are AMAZING! (oh and if you do know then I love you) (even if you don't still love you)
So that's it for me for now,

First Post ...

Hello wonderful person on the other side of the screen :)
(how do I know you're wonderful? well cause you're on my blog... that wasn't very modest, sorry)

So I (Andrea Claire aka PapercraneAnni) have a confession to make...

I actually used to have a blog, yeah I was twelve and the spelling was horrid, grammar... well lets just not talk about the grammar, and content was just plain boring, consisting of what I ate for lunch and what  I did over the weekend (which was usually some form of exercise or seeing friends, the weekend bit, not for lunch... friends aren't for eating)... I will not be giving you the link to that blog because it's just simply embarrassing and should be left lost somewhere out there on the internet... trust me you'd agree if you read it...

So confessions over... for now ;) time to continue onto more interesting things. Things such as, why am I writing a blog?

As I said before, I've had a blog before, so I thought to myself, could my almost seventeen year old self write better than mini me? Of course! How awesome is that? We grow and learn more everyday. I don't know about you, but I'm so happy I'm not the same person I was when I was twelve... oh the awkwardness :/ Also I am a creative person, well I like to think of myself as one. Pinterest is constantly logged on on my phone and computer (follow me, link below)... just to give you an idea.
Now creativity, in my mind, is not limited to drawing and painting, which I adore by the way, but reach much further into the interests out in the world. Being creative fills me with such joy and glee... and it drives me mad when people refer to my interests as hobbies. It's such a .... spare time word. When I say that, I mean the word hobbie is often used in the same sentence as spare time... people have this misconception that hobbies are the things you do when you're free... not cleaning your room/house, studying/working, but to me they are my motivation, something I make time for and don't do half heartedly. I get my kicks from doing them, and think they deserve a special, specific descriptive word, for which I am still searching... I'll let you know when I find it, so for now... I'll have to stick with hobbies *cringe*

You may be, at this moment, wondering what these specific things I am defending so passionately of not being hobbies are... my being creative, as I said before, goes farther than drawing and painting. For me, I'm being creative when I'm playing 'Stairway to Heaven' on guitar, or just rearranging my bookshelf alphabetically or by genre. It's when I'm editing/ storyboarding/scripting/ or researching a film I'm making. When I've discovered a new diy décor idea, or buying new watercolours. It could be when I'm journaling, finding meaningful quotes or baking a cake (especially the eating part... then I thrive deliciously on my creativity ;) )

If you keep following my blog, you'll see that this will be my creative outletness place ;) how awesome is that? Due to the wonders of technology, you can keep updated on all my creativeness, and even comment on it, share or send me a link to your own blog, youtube channel, or pinterest account where you keep track of your creative ideas.

Wanna know where to find and follow me, out there on the World Wide Web?

Almost done ...

Tomorrow a fellow film maker and I will be filming a video to advertise a mountain biking track in our area, which is very exciting because;

a) this is putting us out there as filmmakers
b) i'll be putting up the video on my youtube channel when we've finished it (so of course you'll get to watch it)
c) we get to spend time with some awesome adrenaline junkie cyclists for three hours

Another quick confession before I go...
I've been listening to Fast Car by Tracy Chapman on repeat while I was writing this post, and half way through typing I somehow managed to delete half of the post.... which is incredibly frustrating.... and one of the reasons I say I have a lovehate relationship with technology... I love it, so so much, but for some absurd reason, it despises me.... maybe I offended it at some point... maybe because  I used to write such a pathetic blog ...

Till next time
