Hello Everybody :)
So today I'll be showing you an awesome idea for your bedroom. (actually you could use this anywhere really...)
Right so you'll need two (well five) things for this project
1. Wooden Mixing Palette (for paints) any size you wish
2. Parrot Products Glass & Chalkboard marker (alternatively you could just use regular chalk)
*3. Blackboard paint (found at most hardware stores)
*4. Large paintbrush
*5. Soft sandpaper (also found at most hardware stores)
(*I painted my palette years ago and recently dug it out of my cupboard the other day so unfortunately there aren't any photos of me showing you how to paint it*)
So what you're gonna want to do is lightly sandpaper your palette down if there is a varnish of any sort painted on it. Then, make sure there are no left over sandpapered bits on the palette, you can start painting it black. I would recommend diluting the paint with some water and painting a very light coat to start with and layer up when it's dry. I don't know if this is how you're supposed to paint wood but I did it like that and it worked really well for me :)
Oh and please remember that if your palette isn't dry properly before you draw or write on it, whatever you draw on it the outlines will stay there FOREVER ooooh ;) no seriously though, it leave like a imprint in the paint and you can't get rid of it. Of course unless you paint over it, but thats too much effort, so just blowdry it with a hair dryer to make sure everything is dry :)
Once your palette is dry find a quote or saying you like, I went for

Yes I know I'm outside... it's just it's just a beautiful day!!!!!
Remember when you're writing, you can use so many different fonts, and add some funky shapes to your letters to make them look cuter :) Oh and you can experiment on paper before hand, or on the palette, remember it is chalk, you can always rub it out if you don't like it :)
When you've finished writing/ drawing then embellish. Add some flowers, hearts, triangles, dots... anything really. Fill up the empty spaces. I outlined my palette with green, yellow, white and purple spots. It looks really cute :)
I hope you do make one for your room or kitchen or bathroom... how cool would it look if you did like a fork and spoon and knife for your kitchen and then decorated the handles with fun squiggles and stripes ??? Ahh that would look really awesome... I might actually try that! MOM CAN I PLEASE DECORATE OUR KITCHEN WALLS WITH CHALKBOARD UTENSILS???
Anyway, next blog post will be on a Monday (any Monday after I've had a more chilled non chaotic weekend) and I'm contemplating doing a post on decorative elephants.... or something todo with lights... you'll have to wait and see which one I choose ;)
till then
BYEEEEE
